I have been following Homes For Our Troops for quite some time wanting to help a veteran in need of a home in our area. Homes For Our Troops builds custom designed homes for severely injured veterans, post 9/11. My dad served in the military and I'm sure many of yours did as well. This is a great way to honor your dad, grandfather or anyone you know for serving and protecting us, and right now is the time to give! There is a veteran in Nassau County who needs a custom home!
HFOT would like to build a home for Lance Corporal Matias Ferreira of Wantagh, NY who lost both legs and broke his pelvis after stepping on an improvised explosive device (IED) in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.
As Long Islanders, you know how expensive it is just to build and maintain a basic home in New York, especially on Long Island. Imagine what it must be like to come home from war and not be able to live comfortably in your own home. Well, you can help!
Please give what you can to help LCPL Ferreira get the home he deserves. Any amount can help and no donation is too small. And please spread the word by sharing my link. This will be an ongoing campaign and I'm looking to help in more ways than just an online fundraiser. When the construction starts, there are ways to help in the progress by being a volunteer, but we must raise the funds to start the work. HFOT also takes construction materials as donations, so if you know anyone in the industry, don't hesitate to pass them my link and I can point them in the right direction. And THANK YOU! We're all safe because of these brave men and women!
To build mortgage-free, specially adapted homes nationwide for severely injured Veterans Post-9/11, to enable them to rebuild their lives.
Homes for Our Troops (HFOT) is a privately funded 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization building specially adapted, mortgage-free homes nationwide for the most severely injured Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. Most of these Veterans have sustained injuries including multiple limb amputations, partial or full paralysis, and/or severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). These homes restore some of the freedom and independence our Veterans sacrificed while defending our country, and enable them to focus on their family, recovery, and rebuilding their lives.
Since its inception in 2004, nearly 90 cents of every dollar donated to Homes for Our Troops has gone directly to their program services for Veterans. HFOT builds these homes where the Veteran chooses to live, and continues its relationship with the Veterans after home delivery to assist them with rebuilding their lives.
