Welcome to my fundraising page!

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page for Team HFOT in the TCS New York City Marathon! I will be running four back to back marathons, for four charities, with a common goal of supporting our military veterans. All four marathons would be run within a 5-week span starting on October 7th, 2018. My mission for doing these Marathons is to raise money and bring awareness about each of these charities who support veterans.

Over the last few years, I had the opportunity to meet and work with war wounded servicemen and women. Through them, I learned about their life after the military and the struggles they faced once back home. Unfortunately, so many Americans are left clueless of the impact wounded veterans go through and how their injuries sustained bless from war can have on them, their family, and the longterm effect of returning to civilian life. By running for each of these charities, I hope to enlighten people on how these charities help veterans and why it's so important to give back! We may never understand the hardships veterans face, but they don't have to go through it alone.

I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from Lindenwood University and my Master of Science in Exercise Physiology at San Diego State University. San Diego is saturated with veterans from all branches. During my time in there, I had the opportunity to work with some veterans and spent time getting to know them. It opened my eyes to what some servicemen and women have to face/go through once they come home. Some come back with missing limbs and require adaptive facilities (i.e. homes, work environment, rehabilitation centers, etc.), while others come home with invisible injuries such as depression, traumatic brain injuries and PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). I've learned so much from these veterans and was blessed with the privilege to spend time with and understand some of them. Some things I've learned from them is how vital recovery through sport/fitness is for them. I also learned that invisible injuries are often an oversight in our society which is harder to treat when we can't see what they see and endure daily.

It is because of meeting and working with these veterans over the last few years I’ve realized that giving back to veterans and their families and raising awareness fuels my soul. I want to raise awareness on topics I’m passionate about; life after the military and how recovery through sports helps mental health. But more than anything I want to make a positive impact on others by raising awareness and sharing my first-hand experience being around veterans while understanding some of our wounded veterans and how we can do more for them. I want to use this chance to pay it forward, so other veterans and family have a more natural transition into their now new healthy lifestyle. I also hope my small impact will be enough to inspire others to do the same because there are so many veterans who need our help and support but we as civilians don't know what to do or where to start.

I will be running the TCS New York City Marathon on November 4th, 2018. Help me support those who have sacrificed by donating. The process is fast, easy, and secure. Homes For Our Troops is an amazing non-profit organization that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes nationwide for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans, to enable them to rebuild their lives. One of the greatest gifts we can give to these heroes is a safe & functional place to live. HFOT builds homes that provide freedom & independence for our most severely wounded veterans to live comfortably.

I genuinely appreciate any contributions you can provide. If you can't donate at this point, help me reach my goal by sharing this page on Facebook and Twitter!

Even better, send an email to friends you think might be interested in contributing and include a link to my page.
