I missed out on doing this last year (there was this deployment thing), but I'm continuing with my birthday tradition of raising money for Homes For Our Troops.
I am incredibly blessed to have the love of my family and friends, my health, puppy kisses from my sweet fur balls, and enjoy professional success and satisfaction in a career that I love.
Because I have such nice friends who offer to take me to dinner or buy me a coffee/drink for my birthday, or with gifts and birthday cards, instead, I ask you consider making a donation to this incredibly worthy mission -- to build and donate specially adapted, custom homes nationwide for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans, to enable them to rebuild their lives.
I am willing to accept handmade cards (from your kiddos only, please... I mean, really, we've known each other long enough to both know you should just save yourself the time on a Pinterest Fail project, it's only cute when kids do arts and crafts)... and hugs. I'll take your hugs ;)
Happy Birthday Month to me!
Homes For Our Troops (HFOT) is a privately funded 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes nationwide for severely injured post – 9/11 Veterans, to enable them to rebuild their lives.
Most of these Veterans have sustained injuries including multiple limb amputations, partial or full paralysis, and/or severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). These homes restore some of the freedom and independence our Veterans sacrificed while defending our country, and enable them to focus on their family, recovery, and rebuilding their lives.
Since its inception in 2004, nearly 90 cents of every dollar donated to Homes for Our Troops has gone directly to their program services for Veterans. HFOT builds these homes where the Veteran chooses to live, and continues its relationship with the Veterans after home delivery to assist them with rebuilding their lives.
