Hello!
If you know us, you probably know HFOT :) Although I do work there, our family also donates to the organization because we believe in the mission. I have had the good fortune to see firsthand what living in an adapted home can do for an injured Veteran and their family. Isaac and Grace have grown up hearing about the Veterans HFOT serves and they wanted to do something to help. (I swear, it was their idea!)
Isaac and Grace have each committed to read at least one book per day, from just before Thanksgiving until Christmas (outside of required school reading.) That's 36 days, times two. They are asking that you pledge one dime, one quarter, one dollar (or more!) per book. However much you choose!
If you pledge a dime per book, that would be $7.20.
If you pledge a quarter per book, that would be $18.00.
If you pledge $0.50 per book, that would be $36.00.
If you pledge $1.00 per book, that would be $72.00.
UPDATE Their goal is to raise at least $720.00 before Christmas to give to a Veteran in need of a specially adapted home! Any gift you can give is appreciated!!
Mission: To build and donate specially adapted custom homes nationwide for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans, to enable them to rebuild their lives. Homes For Our Troops (HFOT) is a publicly funded 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes nationwide for severely injured post – 9/11 Veterans, to enable them to rebuild their lives. Most of these Veterans have sustained injuries including multiple limb amputations, partial or full paralysis, and/or severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). These homes restore some of the freedom and independence our Veterans sacrificed while defending our country, and enable them to focus on their family, recovery, and rebuilding their lives. Since its inception in 2004, nearly 90 cents of every dollar has gone directly to program services for Veterans. HFOT builds these homes where the Veteran chooses to live, and continues its relationship with the Veterans after home delivery to assist them with rebuilding their lives.
