To build mortgage-free, specially adapted homes nationwide for severely injured Veterans Post-9/11, to enable them to rebuild their lives.
Homes for Our Troops (HFOT) is a privately funded 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization building specially adapted, mortgage-free homes nationwide for the most severely injured Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. Most of these Veterans have sustained injuries including multiple limb amputations, partial or full paralysis, and/or severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). These homes restore some of the freedom and independence our Veterans sacrificed while defending our country, and enable them to focus on their family, recovery, and rebuilding their lives.
Since its inception in 2004, nearly 90 cents of every dollar donated to Homes for Our Troops has gone directly to their program services for Veterans. HFOT builds these homes where the Veteran chooses to live, and continues its relationship with the Veterans after home delivery to assist them with rebuilding their lives.
For the 3rd consecutive year, a group of colleagues at the CVS Health are banding together to fundraise for a worthy cause. You may have heard of the Movember event; men grow mustaches while raising money for men’s health issues. Our team, led by Eric Cohen has taken on the mustache challenge but decided upon a more timely and noble purpose.
Veterans Day is a special day in the month of November. We’re getting behind a veteran who was disabled while serving our country in Afghanistan in 2011. US Army Specialist Edward Guldin’s life changed when he stepped on an improvised explosive device (IED) while on patrol; he lost both his legs. SPC Guldin’s also been forced to leave his home. The stairs and tight spaces make it impossible to live an independent life.
That’s where Homes For Our Troops comes in. During the month of November, our team, Mustaches 4 ‘Merica is raising money to help build SPC Guldin and his family a new home where he can reclaim his independence. Please watch a short video about his story on his HOFT page.
Last year, Mustaches 4 ‘Merica raised money that contributed toward Army Sergeant Chris Gomes much needed new home. In December, a key ceremony is planned where SGT Gomes will take possession of the new home that HFOT built. The sacrifices our servicemen and women must not go unnoticed; our generosity and compassion can help them rebuild their lives.
Please join me in my efforts to support this wonderful organization; specifically US Army SPC Edward Guldin! See the total effort of our team: Mustaches 4 'Merica myhfotusa.org/Team/View/30337/Mustaches-4-Merica
