**UPDATE**On July 14th, 2021, with my teammate, Elliot, and supported by a fantastic crew, I broke the world record for fastest foot-traverse across Iceland. The 460-mile route took us 9 days and 7 hours, beating the previous record by 1 day and 6 hours!
I documented some of the journey on Instagram at instagram.com/lukeforelle. The official tracking webpage with our route can be found at: trackleaders.com/icelandfkt21f. I'm so grateful to everyone who followed along and gave me support.
My goal, which I hope gets well-surpassed, was to raise $35,000 for Homes For Our Troops, an organization whose impact I've seen personally. In 2016, HFOT completed an adapted home for my fellow Marine, Corporal Garrett Carnes, who was seriously injured during our deployment to Afghanistan.
HFOT's mission is to build and donate specially adapted custom homes nationwide for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans, to enable them to rebuild their lives. Homes For Our Troops (HFOT) is a publicly funded 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes nationwide for severely injured post – 9/11 Veterans, to enable them to rebuild their lives.
Thank you so much to those who have already donated! I intend on keeping the donation page active for at least another few weeks. Please share the story with your friends and family. I have already met the goal but HFOT is such a deserving organization that I hope the donations keep coming in!
